Testing and Laws of Karma!
Most people view Karma as punishment. The phrase, “karma is a b$&@!” comes quickly to mind. However, this is a misconception about karma that is drawn from the media and the misunderstanding of culture and religion.
Laws of Karma everyone should know and How they relate to testing!
1. The Great Law
“As you sow, so shall you reap.” — Almost everyone is well aware of this law and understands what it means.
The same applies to the testing as well but with testing, most start-ups & companies tend to ignore the fact that “As good your testing would be, so great would the product be“
End users don’t care how many $$$ you saved by not having the product well tested, they simply will stop using your product. So think twice before you say no to testing!

2. The Law of Creation
Life requires our participation to happen. It does not happen by itself. We are one with the Universe, both inside and out. Whatever surrounds us gives us clues to our inner state. Surround yourself with what you want to have in your life and be yourself.
Your product’s quality will not happen by itself. You have to value quality if you value your users and want to add value through your product.
I suggest all those brave-hearts who started their dream start-ups, who left their lucrative jobs to understand how important quality & testing is for their product.

3. The Law of Humility
One must accept something in order to change it. If all one sees is an enemy or a negative character trait, then they are not and cannot be focused on a higher level of existence.
Your product will have bugs and if you do not allow your testers to speak up those bugs, your product will not improve and will remain that of a lower quality. Testers are your product’s and your best friends to get the quality levels of your product to the next level!
Let Testers do their job right! Empower them and see how they take your product’s quality to the newest levels.

4. The Law of Growth
It is we who must change and not the people, places or things around us if we want to grow spiritually. All we are given is ourselves. That is the only thing we have control over.
You have to change your perception towards testing and no one else would do that for you. Your product’s quality is under your own control and you have to decide how well you want your product to be tested.
If you want your product to be high quality and standards, you must understand the importance of having it tested, actually not just tested but instead “tested by the right test team”

5. The Law of Responsibility
If there is something wrong in one’s life, there is something wrong in them. We mirror what surrounds us, and what surrounds us mirrors us; this is a Universal Truth. One must take responsibility for what is in one’s life.
If there is something wrong in your product’s quality, then you must accept how much you value testing for your product. If you value quality in your life, it would reflect in your love for quality and getting your product well tested. If your product’s quality is bad, you must take responsibility of how much you have been ignoring testing!
You incepted your product! It’s your responsibility to nourish it and have it live Quality life

6. The Law of Connection
The smallest or seemingly least important of things must be done because everything in the Universe is connected. Each step leads to the next step, and so forth and so on. Someone must do the initial work to get a job done. Neither the first step nor the last are of greater significance. They are both needed to accomplish the task. Past, Present, and Future are all connected.
Each step of your’s towards improving the quality will lead to a greatly successful product which user’s would just love!
You have to take the first step towards the quality of your product and that should be the start! Rest assured, better quality and a great product would be the outcome once you start valuing testing.
Every step towards quality makes your product live better, be more usable and less irritating to your users!

7. The Law of Focus
One cannot think of two things at the same time. If our focus is on Spiritual Values, it is not possible for us to have lower thoughts like greed or anger.
If your focus is on the Testing & Quality of your product, it is not possible for your product to be of low quality. You will not see your users going away due to poor quality.
Focus and get your product’s quality right before your users choose your competitor’s product!

8. The Law of Here and Now
One cannot be in the here and now if they are looking backward to examine what was or forward to worry about the future. Old thoughts, old patterns of behavior, and old dreams prevent us from having new ones.
You have to be here, in present, understand how your product’s quality matters, understand the importance of testing, look at the trends and make decisions to improve the quality of your product.
You need testing! You need quality! Here | Now

I have been talking to a lot of Founders of start-ups and based on my discussion with them, this is what I understood they feel about testing
- We are not very interested in paying for testing, we rather produce more by adding developers
- We’re alright for now, we’ll see when we need testing
- It’s our IP and we can’t risk sharing it
- So, testing is important but we will probably do it with our developers
- We are not testing ready yet!
But then,
You cannot make the mistake of budgeting for testing.
Testing companies are not insurance agents who’d say “What would happen if…” Instead, I want you to understand that loosing your users is a lot more expensive than spending some $$ for testing.
Your developers could test it for you, but then they would be focussed on what “they” developed!
If you’re not testing ready yet – you better be! If you’re not taking care of your product in early stages that’s like being a bad father or mother.
